The SK 5212 bodypack transmitter  
The SK5212 is a professional Mikroport bodypack transmitt er that is easy  
t o use and is easily adaptable t o a wide variet y of applicat ions.

The channel bank syst em  
The transmit ter has two channel banks. The channels of the channel bank  
FIX“ (fixed bank) have been fact ory pre-set t o cust omer-specific  
t ransmission frequencies. These frequencies cannot be changed.  
The channel bank “VAR” (variable bank) allows you to freely select and  
st ore frequencies.

The LED display  
The red LED · provides information on the operat ing state of the  
transmit ter.

capacitiy of t he battery is sufficient (ON).  
Red LED is flashing:

(LOW BATT)!  
Red LED lights up brightly: The transmitter is fully modulated (PEAK).

Preparing the t ransmitt er for use  
Inserting and changing the battery  
For powering the t ransmitt er, use a 1.5 V AA size alkaline-manganese  
batt ery.  
̈ Open t he bat tery compart ment by  
pushing the two catches in t he  
direct ion of t he arrows and open t he  
cover ².  
̈ Insert the bat tery as shown in t he  
diagram on t he left . Please observe  
correct polarit y when insert ing t he  
battery.

̈ Close the batt ery compartment.

Connecting the microphone  
The t ransmitt er is designed for use with Sennheiser lavalier microphones  
and headmics (-4 versions). The power supply of these microphones is vi a  
the microphone input ³ of t he transmitter.  
̈ Connect the microphone to t he microphone  
input ³ of the transmit ter.  
̈ Screw down t he coupling ring.

Connecting the antenna  
The transmit ter is supplied with a plug-on ant enna.  
̈ Connect t he antenna to t he antenna socket »  
of t he t ransmitt er.

Attaching the transmitter to clothing  
The t ransmitt er is att ached to clot hing (e.g.  
belt , waistband) wit h the supplied belt clip.  
The clip is det achable so t hat you can also  
attach the transmit ter with the antenna  
pointing downwards. To do so, withdraw the  
clip from its fixing points and attach it the  
other way round.  
Using t he transmitt er

̈ Open the bat tery compartment.  
̈ To switch t he transmitt er on, briefly  
press t he ON/ OFF but ton µ.

Doing a frequency check  
The transmit ter has a frequency check mode that prevent s the t ransmitt er  
transmit ting on an unwanted frequency after swit ch-on.  
̈ When swit ching on the transmit ter, keep  
t he ON/ OFFbut ton µ pressed.  
The current frequency is displayed on the  
LC display panel ¿ wit hout t he transmit -  
t er actually transmit ting.  
̈ If the displayed frequency is the correct  
one, release the ON/ OFF but ton µ.  
After five seconds, “RF” appears on  
t he LC display panel and the transmit ter  
is transmit ting.

The automatic lock mode (autolock function)  
The t ransmitter has an aut omat ic lock mode (aut olock function) t hat can  
be activat ed via the “LOCKmenu (see “Activat ing/ deact ivating the auto-  
matic lock mode – LOCK” on page 25). When t he autolock funct ion is act i-  
vated, the lock mode is automatically activat ed 10 seconds after pressing  
the last button.

Working with the operat ing menu  
The operat ing menu has t hree modes:  
! Display mode  
In display mode, you can display the current menu sett ings one after the  
other – even when the lock mode is activat ed.  
! Selection mode  
In selection mode, you can select the menu whose set ting you want t o  
change. To change to the selection mode, the lock mode must be deact i-  
vat ed.  
! Set ting mode  
In sett ing mode, you can change the sett ing of the selected menu.  
By way of example of t he “LOWCUT” menu, this sect ion describes how t o  
use the operating menu.

In display mode, and with t he lock mode activated, you can display t he  
current menu set tings one after t he other (see “Overview of the operating  
menu” on page 19). Aft er a few seconds, t he display returns to t he  
st andard display.

Selecting a channel – CHAN  
Via the “CHANmenu, you can switch between t he channels in the channel  
banks “FIX“ and “VAR. The t ransmitt er is not t ransmitt ing while this  
adjust ment is being made.  
When changing to the setting mode of t he “CHAN” menu, the current  
channel number appears on the diplay. After approx. 1 second, the  
currently assigned t ransmission frequency is displayed.

The frequencies in t he channel bank “FIXcan only be changed by a  
Sennheiser Service Partner. If you require a special frequency set in this  
bank, please contact your local Sennheiser Service Part ner.  
Selecting the frequencies to be stored in the channel  
bank VAR” – TUNE  
Via the “TUNE” menu, you can freely select the frequencies t o be st ored in  
the channel bank “VAR” (variable bank). The t ransmitt er is not t ransmit-  
ting while this adjustment is being made.  
Note:  
When you have selected the channel bank “FIX” and then select the  
TUNE” menu, t he t ransmitter automatically swit ches to channel 01 of  
the channel bank “VAR” and “VAR” briefly appears on the LC display  
panel ¿.

The frequencies are tunable in 5-kHz steps within a switching bandwidth of  
36 MHz max.

When operat ing a multi-channel syst em, make sure to only use inter-  
modulat ion-free frequencies.

Adjusting the microphone sensitivity – ATTEN  
Via the “ATTEN” menu, you can adjust the transmit ters sensit ivity.  
The sensitivit y is correctly adjusted when the level  
display for audio signal “AF” shows full  
deflect ion only during t he loudest passages or

To reduce unwant ed low-frequency noise such as wind and handling noise,  
you can act ivate a low-cut filter. The low-cut frequency is 1 20 Hz.  
If you do not want to reduce low-frequency signal portions, select the set-  
t ing “FLAT.

aft er pressing t he last button. The lock mode protect s t he transmitter from

Adjusting the output power – POWER  
Licensing regulations may require a limitation of the out put power to  
10 mW. The t ransmitt er t herefore features a switchable output power.  
With reduced out put power, the operat ing time increases.  
Exiting the operating menu – EXIT  
Via t he EXIT” menu, you can exit the operating menu and return t o t he  
st andard display.  
When in t he operating menu, briefly pressing t he ON/ OFFbutt on µ will  
cancel your entry (ESC function) and ret urn you to t he standard display  
wit hout saving any changes.  
Maintenance and care

Tips for opt imum recept ion  
! Transmission range depends t o a large extent on location and on t he  
selected output power. There should be a free line of sight ” between  
transmit ting and receiving antennas.  
! To avoid overmodulating the receiver, observe a minimum distance of  
5 m between transmit ting and receiving antennas.  
Tips for multi-channel operat ion
